Edgar Cantero asked me via Shai in 60 Seconds: “Uh, one question about your profile. It says “professional blogger” there. Does that mean you actually get paid for blogging? Why? And more important, by whom? No, wait, ‘why’ was more important.”
My reply: Yes, that’s right. I get paid to blog and to write about blogging at http://weblogs.about.com/. And, I also run a network of blogs* where I derive some income from.
Why am I getting paid to blog? Uhh… because it’s work. It’s great. It’s fun. But, it’s work, nevertheless.
And, yes, I’m not the only doing it. I know someone who actually earned a 5-figured income in one month alone from blogging. I’m not even close to that (maybe one day!).
I guess since most people look at blogging as a hobby, it’s hard to believe that people can actually earn from it. But then, isn’t it the same with most things — painting, writing, singing, playing an instrument, playing sports…
Some people do it just for do fun of it. Some people are a bit more serious, but remains non-pro. And, there’s a few who decide to go for it and make a living from something that they love to do.
Perhaps, not everyone can make it to the top level. But, it’s always worth trying.
