I really enjoyed this post as I just got a new camera myself. Rather than being an SLR, it is actually an SLR-like camera. I really do love it though. Now I just need to learn about it!

As for the photo organizing, I think there’s definitely room for improvement. No matter how much organizing I do, everything still feels like a mess!

Robin: I hear ‘ya! And I feel your pain. I’ve got thousands of photos to organise and back-up too. But, I realise that I can just slowly chip away at them bit by bit – every time I get a spare moment (and/or if I remember). I figure that after a few months or so (more like a year or two, maybe?!), I’ll get them all backed up and organised somehow.

It would be great if I am able to have a better organization of my photos. I use flickr but my folders could be more tightly arranged. With 8500 photos online plus a couple of thousand in various external HDs, I would need a dedicated week just for that project, and I think I will just leave it at that for now until I have more time

Amen to your lessons Shai.
#1 is golden. one of my favorite photogs Gilad Ben Ari was shooting the most impresive photos with an olympus c4040. His moto was – I am a copywriter with a camera. So the camera capabilities were only secondary to his imagination.

This state of mind took him away from crying over his equipment and really pushinhg it to it’s edge.

Today he shoots D70, but he kept the same approach, so he keeps taking amazing pictures.
