I don’t consider myself a cook. Definitely not a chef. I’m actually a psychologist by profession and training. A freelance writer/professional blogger (yes, the kind that gets paid to blog) by vocation. I also love to paint and ‘am very much in to creating anything - from scrapbook pages, collages, digital doodles to jewellery and 3D art. I have even been fortunate enough to sell some of my artwork to various wonderful clients in different parts of the world.
So, what am I doing with a food blog? Well, I’ve been cooking since I was 12. And, I love it. I enjoy learning new dishes and making them my own. Of course, they don’t always turn out great.
I also love to eat - from home-cooked meals to dining out. Some people think I don’t eat that much at all. I probably don’t, given my size. But, I love my food anyway. Just ask my husband.
Anyway, the idea for this food/cooking blog is just sharing. Not as an expert, but as someone who enjoys the whole deal about food and cooking. I’m here to share some of my “hacked” recipes… to give food and restaurant reviews… to talk about eating and dining out… plus anything else that comes to mind. Besides, I need a place to keep my own “food diary” - somewhere I can store original recipes, handed-down recipes and even notes on places to eat, etc. Since I love to blog, Dash Food came to mind.
My personal inclinations when it comes to food is mostly Asian. I grew up with Filipino food, but I have a strong affinity for Chinese food. Even more so when I lived in Singapore. But, in that country, I ended up falling in love with a variety of cuisines: Indian, Pakistani, Malaysian, Singaporean…
I also lived for a short while in the USA, so I’ve gotten to know North American food. While living in California, I got in to Mexican food too.
Since I’m married to an Englishman, I’m getting to know a good deal of Western cuisines — particularly, European dishes. My husband’s family migrated from England to South Africa, and my sister-in-law is married to a South African man. So, I’m getting to know food from that part of the world too, since we get to visit there regularly.
I’m currently living in Australia, which also brings about an interesting variety of food as my new home country is very multicultural.
Anyway, I’m just starting this blog just for fun. My hope is that you end up having fun with this too.

On Celia’s blog - I’m not sure but it could be that EE has a blogban on blogspot-hosted blogs? Hmmm…
