9. What are some new, creative ways to drive traffic to blogs?
Ooohhh… this requires another long answer. But luckily, I have a section at Web Logs @ About.com dedicated to marketing and promotions of blogs. I also wrote an article on Top 10 Tips on Promoting Your Blog.
The tips right now are all pretty standard stuff. But, hopefully, they’d help anyway. I have a few more ideas, but I haven’t been able to write them down yet. I’ll do it one of these days and share…
10. I don’t see ads on your site. Why?
Not sure which site you mean? Is it this one (ShaiCoggins.com)? If it is, well, I do have some ads here – just Google AdSense and a handful of Amazon stuff. But, I do try not to make this particular blog filled with ads, seeing as it’s mostly my personal space. My “work blogs” have enough ads already, I think.
11. Do you post traffic levels (via Sitemeter) at About.com?
If you mean, do I post my traffic/stats from my About.com site? Well, no, I’m afraid not.
First of all, the stats are all done “in-house” – not via SiteMeter. Second, I don’t have the liberty to disclose my personal site stats to the public. All I can say is that my Web Logs site has a Google PageRank of “7″ and current Technorati links are 586 links from 379 sites (easy to find out, I know). I wish I can tell you more, but I can’t.
Anyway, as a network, we receive about 20 million visits a month, with about 500 topics. You can visit this page, if you’re interested to find out more background info on About.com.
