Monsters vs Aliens: My 3D Movie Experience

Monsters vs Aliens

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I don’t remember going to the cinema to watch a 3D movie. Ever. Unless my memory’s beginning to fail me.

Well, make that never — until about a week ago, when I headed to my local movie theatre to watch Monsters vs Aliens, one of Dreamworks’ latest animation.

Of course, my excuse was that I was taking my five-year-old son. But, well, we all know he was really just a decoy, right?(One of the secret joys of being a mum is being able to watch all these shows with a legitimate excuse. ;-) )

Anyway, popcorn, drinks, and 3D glasses on hand, my boy and I had a fabulous 1.5 hours of 3D animation fun. It was his first time to watch a 3D movie too. So, it was pretty special.

That’s why even though the storyline was not too exciting, we still loved it.

Of course, it helped that the boy already has a current fascination with monsters. Hmmm… what is it about boys and monsters, huh?

In any case, my final verdict on Monsters vs Aliens: Definitely worth the 3D movie watching experience.

Oh, and icing on the cake: The boy and I won that big blue BOB monster soft toy from one of those hook game machines where you put $2 to play. Yay.

Special shout-out: Thanks to Julie Delaforce from NetworkPR for the tickets! My neighbours say thanks too. :-)

Oh I love 3-D films! I haven’t been to one in ages, though I haven’t forgot how much it adds to the experience. I’ll never forget in sixth grade when I went to the movies with Mom and Dad. They went to one film and I went to a different a couple doors down. It was a horror movie, Freddy’s Dead, from the Nightmare on Elmstreet series. I thought it was the coolest thing when at the end the characters beat Freddy and well – his head blew up in a million pieces and flew right out at the audience. Not necessarily the most appetizing to some people, but I love horror movies so it was grate fun. LOL!

Hey, Kari. Eeeps. Horror in 3D?! Definitely not for me. :-D But, if you’re a fan of horror though, it does sound like a real good way to watch a film. Heh.

I don’t know, maybe I am sheltering my boys too much (6 & 4) but this movie scared the crap out of them!

Happily the 4 year old is not too damaged, he started quoting BOB over dinner a few nights after seeing the movie.

“oh, my back! Wait a minute, I don’t have a back”

Ah, the joys of quoting a slime mold. Hilarious

Hi, Liz. Maybe it’s just a personality or timing thing. :-) My boy used to get scared of nearly ALL films. He didn’t really like watching them before. It took him a while to get used to it all. Now, he’s a lot better. And LOL on that quote. :-D

Sasha: Haha. :-) Yes, he did enjoy it a lot. Really cool experience for us both. I’m sure you’ll both get a chance to chat soon. He has been asking about you and Lola lately. :-)
