Public ranting isn’t really my thing. In fact, private ranting is something I even keep to a minimum. Life’s too short to live with too much negativity.
But, sometimes, I indulge myself. Call it catharsis. I figure it’s better than getting in to a road rage of some sort.
So, please excuse me as I list a few things that are annoying me at the moment…
1) Rude, inconsiderate drivers. I mean, really, who cares if you can screech your tires? And, what’s the point in harrassing a P plater anyway? And, will it hurt to say thanks if someone actually tries to offer some consideration to you on the road?!
2) Cyclists who think they own the road. What’s up with you lot?!
3) People who’re only too willing to believe the worst of you. Or your company/business. Truth doesn’t matter. Reality is what/how they like to make it.
4) People who create trouble — and then blame other people if they get in to trouble. They feel victimised, even if they’re the ones who’ve been hurting others. What the —?!
5) People who just like to jump in to all the wrong conclusions. It doesn’t matter if they know diddly squat. See #3.
6) People who think that you owe them something. They believe that you owe them an explanation, a complete story, or whatever. It doesn’t matter if they’re not really related to you. They know about you, so you must be obliged to them. Huh?! And, if they don’t get what they want, then they become #3 or #5 or all.
7) People who complain too much. ’nuff said.

Rants 1 and 2 sound a lot like the drivers and cyclists we have here in the Philippines hehe

Shai,
I hope you like cyclists. As in anything, there are the bad apples. I like to think the group I ride here in Texas with is considerate; I know the Honolulu group I was in for 3 years never had an altercation.
Here’s wishing tomorrow is an annoyance-free day for you–if that;’s possible. hehe.

A rant is only good if there is someone to hear it.
#2 – There was a news item in a small daily here weeks ago. One cyclist in Regent St was pushed by a guy because the cyclist was on the pavement for pedestrian & is likely to hit someone. No one complained, not even the cyclist.
#3 – I struggle with this a lot, even with some relatives sad to say. What do I do? I rant, then try to forget.

Hi Shai,
Lol, what’s with the commenter before me? I think we’re all entitled to some moments of ranting. I believe it makes us more human.

I share the same sentiment with no. 6 and 7.
It’s like, when you have accepted of commiting a mistake and said your apology, why bother to explain yourself, right?
Oh boy, people who keep on venting their misfortunes on other people just irk me to death.DO something, when you think that fate is not being kind to you.
Sorry, I am ranting.

angelo: heh.
Pete: Nothing against cyclists on a personal level.
I just don’t like those who’re very inconsiderate and cocky on the road.
Anyway, yep, most days are annoyance-free for me. Thanks!
auee: Hehe. Interesting.
BOR ED: Eh?!
Heather: Says a lot. Heh.
Tingting: You’re welcome to rant here anytime.
