UPDATE (23 Nov 2004): Read about this course right here.

Yes, I’m teaching online again. It’s been a while, but I’m glad to be back.

Poetry 101, or otherwise known as “You Come Too: Introduction to Poetry Writing,” starts - er, started on the 19th of July 2004. It will conclude on the 2nd of August 2004. It’s a short, simple two-week online workshop for beginners. I’m accepting participants until the 22nd of July.

I’ve edited and developed the course materials. So, it’s a bit different from how it was like when I first offered it back in 1999 and 2000. I’m also making the workshop available as an eBook like Rust On The Roof: Introduction to Creative Writing. It will be available for a small fee to the public, but it’ll be free for workshop participants.

I’m considering developing more never-before-seen products and workshops.

What about you? Have you taken an onlike workshop before? What was it like?

What kind of online workshops are you interested in?

The only online course I’ve ever taken has been through the local community college, which was the PC Applications course which I decided to take via the Internet because it was just too lame to take in a classroom.

I remember back when AOL was the hot thing, there were some workshops on there that seemed kinda interesting, but they cost money and my mother thought I was too young to take them. (I was in my early teens at the time). I always thought it was a neat concept though.

Did you enjoy your online learning experience? What kind of workshops did you find interesting from AOL?

I signed up for an online poetry course via the Barnes and Noble University several years ago. It was pretty well organized and had an active forum which I liked, but I ended being a lazy butthead and never went all the way through. I’m not interested so much as in learning to write poetry, but in learning to read and appreciate it.
