Hi, Chynna. Thanks again for doing this interview. And, for responding to the comments here. Much, much appreciated. Do keep in touch!

Thanks, Kari. I'm glad you enjoyed the interview! And yes, Chynna (and writers like her) will always be great to have around because they help to give voice to those who may not be able to have one otherwise. :-)

Denise - Wow. Thanks for sharing. I didn't realise that. But yes, I'm glad that you liked this interview and I hope you help to spread the word about SPD too. :-)

Glenda - Sounds like a good plan to me. Good luck with it! ;-)

AndreyM - Indeed. :-)

Hi Denise. I think it's awesome that they're finally offering training sessions in SPD and how to help families live with and cope with it! What I found was that you're shown how see things from the child's perspective, which helps to reduce frustration. I have much more patience now.

Kari, thanks so much for your comment. You worded what I was getting at beautifully. Alot of people have made snap judgments about Jaimie strictly based on her reactions to things without taking the time to find out where that behaviour stems from. Once we took a proactive approach to "inform to understand," we've found things are better--both for us and, especially, for Jaimie. Like I said above, if Jaimie is learning to interact in her enviroment and with the people/things in it, then those people need to understand how to interact with her effectively too! And if we speak to people in plain, jargon-free language, it makes things easier. =)

Great interview! I was thinking the whole time and then nodded again when Chynna mentioned the saying about how knowledge is power - so true! People like her can make a big impact on those of us who don't know much about certain conditions and disorders by informing us what some people are maybe too afraid or ignorant to ask. In this day and age, there are so many clinical terms doctors use that it really helps for a parent to put it in terms others will understand so we can learn what we can do to improve the situation to promote a healthy environment for the child.
