My TV-watching habits fluctuate a lot. Some seasons, I’m glued to the telly in a big way. Some seasons, I can barely keep up with the news. Lately, I find myself just on a ‘catching up’ mode.
Anyway, what about you? Do you love watching TV? What kind of shows do you like? What will you recommend?
Long Time Faves:
Shows I’ve been watching from season to season…
- BBC (British Broadcasting) and ABC (Australian Broadcasting) Specials - There are so many that it’s difficult to catch up. But yeah, I love documentaries and such that the BBC and ABC come up with.
- Australian Idol - Currently on a break; but yeah, been watching every season from the first one. Heh.
- Law & Order - I’ve watched so many, but haven’t really been keeping track on the seasons because they show them so much.
All Time Faves:
Shows I can watch even on re-runs…
- Friends - I can’t get tired of them.
- Oprah - I like some episodes, and can’t stand some others. But, I like O herself.
- The Simpson’s - I used to watch a lot, but haven’t done so lately.
- Parkinson - My absolute favourite entertainment talk show.
Shows That I’m Trying To Catch Up On:
- America’s Next Top Model - Watched some episodes in a handful of seasons.
- Gilmore Girls - Managed to watch the last few seasons, but am still catching up. Haven’t watched the season finale yet, though.
Wish I Can Catch Up On:
- Grey’s Anatomy - Was a latecomer and I’ve only managed to watch 4-5 episodes.
- Ugly Betty - Only watched 3 or 4 episodes.
- Heroes - Never watched a single episode, but I’m interested to see.
- House - Watched a few episodes/seasons, but haven’t really been caught up yet.
Right now, one show that I find myself hooked is Gossip Girl. Guess it just reminds me a bit of the days when I used to follow shows like Felicity. Heh.
Other shows I like in one way or the other (that’re still running and/or being re-run here in Oz): Little Britain, The Office (UK version), Spicks and Specks, Chasers War on Everything, CSI (Las Vegas), Cheers, Frasier, Home & Away, American Idol, Better Homes & Gardens, Getaway, Lonely Planet
I also try to watch shows on The Lifestyle Channel (Fox cable TV) like Relocation, Relocation or Location, Location, Location… But, I’m a bit all DIY-ed out. Also like the BBC specials that they run. That’s why I also enjoy The UK Channel. I wish I can have the How To channel, though.
Also a regular: News either on local channels or on the BBC, Sky, or CNN.
By the way, if you don’t know yet, b5media has an Entertainment portral: Spekked. It’s a great place to check out for news and other tidbits on favourite TV shows.

Long Time Faves:
- Small Space, Big Style - I just love seeing the finished product (I’m sick of DIY now myself) and what I may be able to get at my favourite furniture store to quick-fix my design dilemmas.
- CSI:NY - I like a good murder mystery… and the lab stuff appeals to the scientist in me!
- Any show by Matt James - I love City Gardener, Urban Gardener (?), and Eco Eden…
All Time Faves:
- Friends - I was the same age as Rachel at the time, so I basically lived my 20s with her, going through the exact same thing at the exact same time.
- The Simpsons - I think I married a brilliant and much hotter version of Homer… I’m seeing a ’skittle brau’ somewhere in my future.
Wish I Can Catch Up On:
- Heros
- Ugly Betty
- Eureka - I’m a sci-fi sucker.
Shows I’m Trying to Catch Up On:

- Digging for the Truth - I love archaeology & history (I was going to enroll in Anthropology if I hadn’t gone into Engineering), and yes, Josh Bernstein is on my Top 10 list.
Great question, Shai! I’ll be asking my readers the same in the near future.
Cheers!

My all time fav shows: Roswell, Alias, and Veronica Mars. All of which are now canceled. boo. I do own them all on DVD though for my constant viewing pleasure.
My fav cheesy 80’s TV (love the 80s TV!): KnightRider, AirWolf, The A-Team and MacGyver (I guess MacG was really the 90’s though).
Current shows I catch when I can: CSI Vegas, Las Vegas (no story, but completely funny in a kooky way), Heroes.
Absolutely Must Watch TV (meaning, I plan my schedule around these): Chuck and Torchwood. I’ll rewatch these two shows constantly and whenever free time allows- middle of the night when I can’t sleep, lazy afternoons, whenever.
So basically I like geeky type shows with loads of butt-kicking and/or great eye candy.
Oh, and I don’t have cable, so that limits my TV watching, but I’m ok with that. Otherwise this list would be much longer and I’d never get anything else done.

OMG, I’m totally crushing on Richard Dean Anderson these days… but during his StargateSG-1 days, not his MacG days. I’m totally into the older-man thing… never in a million years did I ever think…
Anyways, I guess I should’ve added StargateSG-1 to my list. I can watch Rick over and over and over and…
The Simpsons, Family Guy, House, Prison Break and Carpoolers. I also watch 24 but, with the strike and all, that never got off the ground this season, of course.
Carpoolers is a new (last fall) show… me and my brother enjoy it a lot. Quite funny.

I’m die hard for Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. I also love House, CSI:, Law & Order SVU, Cold Case, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and Lost. I’m most recently getting into The L Word, and I am going to check out Lipstick Jungle as well. So many choices!

not watching much TV, actually. american idol, and a few football games, and i’m checking out the Super Bowl… kind of…
Shai Coggins reply on February 4th, 2008:
Hi Shai,
Yeah, I’m not huge on TV myself. I tend to watch whatever hubby is watching, but rarely follow it. I do enjoy Spicks & Specks, though. Any of those docos are good, too. Oh, and those English murder mysteries are ones I will watch. Like the way they do them.
Shai Coggins reply on February 4th, 2008:
When I have spare time I tune in to BBC, CNN, HBO, Star Movies, The Lifestyle Channel, Discovery Travel & Living, Discovery Channel, and Nat Geo.
I don’t watch much else, as I am not really a telly person.
But… but… I can watch Friends, Felicity, House and Judging Amy over and over again!
These days, though, I switch on the TV just to watch news and American Idol.
I thoroughly recommend Heroes and Ugly Betty in that order.
