Hats of Many Shapes, Sizes and Colours

When you’re a full-time freelancer working from home and raising a family at the same time, you have to wear several types of hats. And no, I’m not just talking about Edward De Bono’s 6 Thinking Hats.

Freelancers definitely have to wear more than just six types of hats.

You have to be bookkeeper, cleaner, organiser, publisher, writer, marketer, webmistress, consultant, pr person, planner, and lots more.

Sometimes, it can get very frustrating. Not just because of the amount of work and expectations that go with it all.

Many times, you have to face your inadequacies. And, I hate having to own up to the fact that no matter how hard I try, I can’t possibly be great at everything. No one can.

Take web design, for instance. Sure, I can do web design from scratch. I can hack existing templates and customise them to my heart’s content. I taught myself HTML and CSS enough to come up with decent-looking weblogs and sites. Hey - I even taught myself how to make graphics. But, when I look at some blogs and websites
