How To Be a Freelance Writer

Every month or so, an email with a similar theme pops in to my inbox. It’s the same question - with bits of variation - but the sentiments are all too familiar: Teach me how to become a freelance writer. Tell me the secret on how you became one. I need the inspiration / magic formula / hope / kick-in-the-butt to get in to the freelance writing life.

Shai, I found your site by following my nose in the WordPress forums looking for photo integration with WP. I’m slowly developing my own guru/coaching service at http://hearingmatters.info and appreciated seeing your site with similar focus.

It’s too bad that your ‘help me-to-thanks’ ratio is like that, but you’ve done a smart thing by developing this page to answer those inquiries. You offer some good suggestions…realistic…and yet still offer some direction to those who realize they need some help.

Personally, I would recommend a resource that I’ve found very valuable– Robert Middleton’s InfoGuru manual. He does a very good job of helping you make your coaching business clear to yourself and others. http://www.actionplan.com/ is the site…check out his free workbook and sign up for the More Clients newsletter.

It’s a good thing Jesus didn’t love us according to the ‘help me-to-thanks’ ratio he got huh??

I found this webpage googling “unemployed writer”. It seems to be the norm these days.

Wow. This is just what an aspiring writer needs. I’m going to plan on how to accomplish my dreams rather than just “dream about dreaming.”
