This article, Getting Paid in Multiple Ways for Your Expertise by Marcia Yudkin, got me wondering about exploring other areas of my freelancing business. Well, I was particularly hooked with the Pay-Per-Question Model she mentioned.
As the former Guide/Editor to About.com’s now-defunct Language Arts for Kids site, I signed up with Keen.com as an on-call consultant when About launched its partnership with Keen. However, I did not really fancy the idea of getting calls, so I quickly forgot about the whole deal.
Ms. Yudkin helped me to re-evaluate this option. While I may think better when I’m reading and writing, I know that I can provide a more comprehensive service to my clients if I offer phone consultations. Hence, from now on, I can be consulted on my areas of expertise via my Ingenio/Keen platform.
For consultations requiring more research or more in-depth responses, I plan to offer something similar to Mel White’s 5 Minute Mentor service. I’m still working out the logistics, though. So, stay tuned for more details.

Hey Shai - long time, no contact
Just found you here after you left a comment on another Blogger’s site. Looking around now, bookmarking. Nice to “see” ya!

I will be looking at your writer resources. I started a news blog but do more c/p than writing of my own. When I do write my own prose I get good feedback. My problem is confidence in my own abilities. I would much prefer my blog to be more personal but for the moment others say it better than I do. Perhaps some of your suggestions will help.
Thanks!

Thanks, Angela! I replied via email. So good to hear from you again.
Dianne: Hi and thanks for visiting my blog. ‘Glad you found the resources interesting. I can empathise about the confidence thing. I suffered from something similar. But, I had to tell myself that time and time again that I’ll regret it more if I don’t do something about my passion and my interests. Have you tried attending classes/workshops and/or getting a creativity coach of sort?
