Hi, Kari, Melissa, Kay, iHanna, Candy and Lynn: Thank you all for your great suggestions. I did manage to try some of them. But, ran out of time to do all. In any case, I collated all the ideas in a blog post. Again, thanks. :-)

Sam: Sorry to hear that the idea of spring doesn't excite you. Hope it gets better for you. :-) Thanks for saying hello.

I love this photo I recently saw of a piece of art (http://tinyurl.com/examiner-com-Chicago) that reminds me of flowers and is the result of an iterated artistic process.

Another idea that comes to mind is flower arranging, but with a single flower. I always find single stems powerful and beautiful.

Spring?! Please don't mention spring to me!! This British summer has been very dismal, and now that autumn is on the way I am getting the feeling that the only summer I had this year was waaaay back in March when I spent three weeks in Australia!!

It's funny actually, because I normally like autumn - crisp evenings and leaves changing, but this year it's no fun due to summers no-show!!

Hi Shai, I just made a post about "subtle colors" that ended up being about writing and poetry. I think that's what inspires me right now. And I also really like dying flowers, autumn seeds and grass, but I guess you're in the other end of the season!? :-)

A thought though; self portrait with flowers? I'd love to see your face surrounded by flowers. Have fun!

a very random thing I've always wanted to do is experiment with edible flowers - perhaps sprinkle a few petals on your salad? (after googling to make sure it's edible...?)

my sister likes to dry wildflowers (there are patches of lavender that grow in our neighborhood) and give them to our mother and grandma, who love them!

cheers, candy

Wow- flowers- something I can relate to totally! I'd stick with the REAL LIVE ones, rather than paper or dead versions. Your flower photos are lovely, and taking advantage of other people's efforts in growing them is a tactic I can identify with! What a shame about the skirt project- oh well- at least the bag will get used instead. You have to be careful with skirts as the material needed for the waistband is quite a lot compared to your actual measurement, to get seams, overlap and fastenings attached. Perhaps I'll have a go at a skirt now you've reminded me- I'm still having inspiration troubles- lots of ideas, no motivation to act. A daily shot of a flower, weed or tree might be good, too- I used to do a lot, but slacked off recently. I agree that the increased blue skies and sunshine are good medicine to make changes and get outside a bit!

Paper flowers? There are loads of tutorials out there for using origami paper, tissue paper, even patty pans (so the kids can join in.)
My garden has been inspiring me in a slightly more practical sense - food. I've pulled out my Yates guide. tested my soil and now I'm plotting where the most sun is. Then I get to put in all my plants and nurture them to harvest time.
