Spring is definitely inspiring me to do a lot of things. I just love, love, love seeing the world around me come alive at this time of the year. And, I can’t say enough good things about seeing more sun and blue skies lately. Yay indeed. That’s why I thought I’ll carry that inspiration over to my monthly Everyday Exploration project.
One of the spring-related ideas that I wanted to try out was ’spring cleaning’. After all, my house, my office, my email inbox, and many other aspects of my life seem to need a lot of cleaning up. But, it didn’t have enough oooooommmmpppphhh for me. At least, not right now. Not on a daily marking kind of way. I’ll still do that cleaning bit. But, probably not everyday.
Anyway, I decided to do something simple for my September EE. For the first time, I’m opting to do a single idea. Just FLOWERS. Yep – come up with anything and everything that has to do with flowers. The more creative, the better.
Day One started off with that photo + spring-inspired handbag. Day Two, I filled a moleskine sketchbook page of floral doodles, especially based on flowers that I saw during my weekly walk. Day Three, I made a ‘floral-printed giraffe softie’ + filled 2 pages of floral doodles based on real and imaginary flowers + listed lots of floral-related ideas. Today’s Day Four. Not sure yet what I’ll do. I’ll go check that list some time and pick one.
Now, if you have ideas on floral inspirations, I’d welcome your suggestions. Maybe I’ll do something about your idea (with credit to you, of course).
So, what about you? What’s inspiring you lately?

Flowers huh? What about doing something that would involve pressing the flowers such as a paper or bookmark? I’ve been making bookmarks lately for no particular reason. I bet you could make something beautiful with pressed flowers.

Paper flowers? There are loads of tutorials out there for using origami paper, tissue paper, even patty pans (so the kids can join in.)
My garden has been inspiring me in a slightly more practical sense – food. I’ve pulled out my Yates guide. tested my soil and now I’m plotting where the most sun is. Then I get to put in all my plants and nurture them to harvest time.

Wow- flowers- something I can relate to totally! I’d stick with the REAL LIVE ones, rather than paper or dead versions. Your flower photos are lovely, and taking advantage of other people’s efforts in growing them is a tactic I can identify with! What a shame about the skirt project- oh well- at least the bag will get used instead. You have to be careful with skirts as the material needed for the waistband is quite a lot compared to your actual measurement, to get seams, overlap and fastenings attached. Perhaps I’ll have a go at a skirt now you’ve reminded me- I’m still having inspiration troubles- lots of ideas, no motivation to act. A daily shot of a flower, weed or tree might be good, too- I used to do a lot, but slacked off recently. I agree that the increased blue skies and sunshine are good medicine to make changes and get outside a bit!

a very random thing I’ve always wanted to do is experiment with edible flowers – perhaps sprinkle a few petals on your salad? (after googling to make sure it’s edible…?)
my sister likes to dry wildflowers (there are patches of lavender that grow in our neighborhood) and give them to our mother and grandma, who love them!
cheers, candy

Hi Shai, I just made a post about “subtle colors” that ended up being about writing and poetry. I think that’s what inspires me right now. And I also really like dying flowers, autumn seeds and grass, but I guess you’re in the other end of the season!?
A thought though; self portrait with flowers? I’d love to see your face surrounded by flowers. Have fun!

Spring?! Please don’t mention spring to me!! This British summer has been very dismal, and now that autumn is on the way I am getting the feeling that the only summer I had this year was waaaay back in March when I spent three weeks in Australia!!
It’s funny actually, because I normally like autumn – crisp evenings and leaves changing, but this year it’s no fun due to summers no-show!!

I love this photo I recently saw of a piece of art (http://tinyurl.com/examiner-com-Chicago) that reminds me of flowers and is the result of an iterated artistic process.
Another idea that comes to mind is flower arranging, but with a single flower. I always find single stems powerful and beautiful.

Hi, Kari, Melissa, Kay, iHanna, Candy and Lynn: Thank you all for your great suggestions. I did manage to try some of them. But, ran out of time to do all. In any case, I collated all the ideas in a blog post. Again, thanks.
Sam: Sorry to hear that the idea of spring doesn’t excite you. Hope it gets better for you.
Thanks for saying hello.
