Yes, I’ve left Adelaide for good – well, you never know what’s in the future; our original intention was only a 2 year stay – when my husband got a job transfer end of 1991. But the company didn’t elect to bring us back for 4 years instead of 2 and by that time, we’d bought a home, the eldest daughter had started high school and I’d begun a business. So we elected to stay put and he found work in another area of his expertise. We’ve been here now for almost 15 years and love life in Melbourne. But we still have family in SA so do visit from time to time.

Connie: Thanks! I’m not sure about being able to drive anywhere in the world if you can drive at EDSA. Some Pinoys might not know what to do with so much space.

Heather: Yes! Can you believe it? I was elated for days. Now, I’m just terrified. Hehehehe. But, I know I’ll develop that much-needed confidence in time. By then, I’d probably kick myself for not doing this sooner.

Kathie: Thanks for visiting and for the kind words. I’d probably feel the same way in a few weeks’ time (about not understanding why I took so long to learn and give this a go ). Anyway, it’s good to know that I’m not the only person who got a license in adulthood. So… have you left Adelaide for good then?

Hi Shai, I’m the Australian woman blogger who commented about the Australian A-list on Duncan Riley’s site – I saw your post there and came to your site. Congrats on getting your license. I grew up in Adelaide and was 29 before I got mine. Really didn’t feel the need for it before then, but life got to the point where I really needed to drive instead of dragging young children onto buses and trains all the time. So mum baby-sat whilst I learnt to drive and surprised myself by getting my license after a few short weeks of practice and lessons. I absolutely love driving and couldn’t understand why I had taken such a long time to decide to do something about it!

Good for you, Shai! I’m sure that driving around Adelaide is more relaxing than driving around Manila. But as some Pinoy travellers would say, if you can drive through EDSA, you can drive anywhere in the world. LOL.
