Delight

If you were to define your reasons for catching the “blogging block feeling,” would your reason be:

A) You just wrote a couple of massive posts, so it feels like anything that’s not as massive feels too puny or insignificant.

B) You have too much going on in “real life” that it’s getting more and more challenging to translate those things in to “online life”.

C) You are looking at your “Things to Blog” list and you can see that you’re getting further and further behind.

D) Distractions both on and offline abounds.

E) Life just simply gets in the way.

Me? It’s all of the above at the moment.

My solution?

Just do something completely off the typical blogging schedule and wing it. Yes, that’s what I’m doing right now.

Oh, and psssst… I wasn’t really planning on sharing this at all, but since I’ve decided to share one of my latest digital doodles (yep, made on the iPad) right here, I thought I’d let you know that I’ve been archiving some of these doodles and sketches via Studio Sketchpad. I’m also slowly planning on posting some of them on my Flickr account. Yes, I’m doodling/sketching again!

I’m probably somewhere between B and E. My accelerated summer classes are demanding and it seems like I have to schedule time to take off just to make sure I actually do! I’ve managed a couple of check-ins on my blog, however when it comes to writing quality content I am completely lacking inspiration. I have an idea for a KIDoosh post now and then, but I never can seem to find the time I’d like to put into it. There’s always a class to go to, an assignment to be done, an appointment to attend, etc. At this point I’m thankful just to have moments to sneak in and read what others are up to before moving onto the next task ;)

    P.S. Love the illustration!

@Kari – I can definitely empathise. At least you haven’t completely disappeared on us… and you still keep in touch via comments/Tweets/FB. :-) And yes, glad you liked the illo!

Lately, C (qualified with the fact that the list is those posts that need/seem to be ones requiring the massiveness) through E. Perhaps late to the game, I’ve just discovered plinky.com, and think I can use it to bank some short blog posts in reserve for when distractions and everyday life get in the way.

@Lynn – Ahhh… yes! Hopefully, you keep going anyway. :-) In any case, it’s always good to hear from you. Thanks! And, take care.

I think you are right that a lot of it comes down to keeping the momentum, even if it isn’t really the same quality as your last post. That doesn’t mean you should just create nonsense, but merely that they can’t all be masterpieces…

Absolutely agree with you there, @RogerAD. There’s a fine line for me when it comes to quantity vs quality. No one wants to read several nonsense posts… but, no one would be completely happy with very rare brilliant posts either. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :-)
