Yes, I’m on my way to Manila soon (with a short Singapore stop-over). And, with the help of my sister (and I’m sure she’s getting help from other folks too), we’ve arranged to have two blogging meet-ups while I’m there on a working holiday.
The first one will be held on the 29th of November (Thursday PM), which is going to be a b5media meet-up. A chance to catch-up and meet some of our wonderful bloggers and Channel Editors who are based in the Philippines.
The second meet-up will be on the 30th of November (Friday PM), which is going to be a general meet-up of Bloggers in Manila. Yes, if you’re a blogger based in Manila (or willing to come and meet us), YOU’RE INVITED to the party.
The details of the meet-ups are still being sorted (the time, venue, etc.). I will let you know as soon as I find out more.
The meet-ups will be mostly informal get-togethers. But, ‘m also happy to look at “talking business/shop”, if anyone’s interested. I’m still looking in to the budget, so I don’t know yet IF I can offer any party perks. However, I do KNOW that there will be some b5media schwag giveaway. And, I might be able to part with a handful of prints (and if I get the chance, maybe a couple of blank art journals) on the day too.
Anyway, I’m really looking forward to these meet-ups. I’m especially excited to meet folks that I’ve known online for a while now, but never have had the chance to meet in person. And maybe, even get the chance to meet new friends too!
So, if you want to come and say HI, please let me know. Leave a comment here or email me at shaicoggins AT gmail DOT com. If there’s enough interest, I might be able to convince some sponsors to give away a few more things, just for fun. That’s why if you’re based in Manila or you have Filipino blog readers/friends in Manila, feel free to tell them about the 30th November meet-up too. Just make sure to keep me posted if you know anyone who might like to join, just so I can estimate how many people we’re expecting.
If it’s going to be a more intimate get-together, that’s cool too. :coolhmm:
In any case, I’m just happy that I’ll be able to visit Manila again. Looking forward to all the meet-ups, the food, the goss, and the shopping, among other things.
UPDATE: Just created an Event Page for the Bloggers’ Meet-up in Manila via Facebook. A great place to let us know you’re joining. Will also be posting videos, photos and updates there.

Hi Shai. I have a meet up on the 28th in Manila for those who joined the Filipina Writing Project. I think your meet up for the 30th will be great as blogs who’ll win in the Philippine Web Awards on the 29th will be in a good mood to celebrate too. Cheers!

Hey,
You’re getting around this year. Hope you have a lot of fun.

Sasha: Definitely. Thanks again for helping to put this together.
Janette: Cool. You’ll be in Manila too! Didn’t know the Phil Web Awards was having their awards night on the 29th. I checked their website and said the 23. Well, I don’t really know what the turnout will be like. But, I’m definitely looking forward to meeting up with folks. Hope you can make it too!
Gloria: Yay! After all these time… We’d finally get to meet. I’m really excited!
Heather: Yeah. It has been a very busy year, isn’t it? But, I’m sure things WILL eventually slow down.

I just landed here from the staff page of the b5media site, and I didn’t even know there was going to be a b5 meetup here. I’m so out of the loop. Glad this was the first entry on your blog when I landed here… it really caught my eye. I wouldn’t have known otherwise.

I’m disappointed I can’t be there, but I have a comment about one of the prints you speak of. It is beautiful! I got one in mail today! Thank you so much. It has so much more depth in real life… the layers of images, with their different degrees of transparency and one being metalic, seem to float on top of each other. It was also a very warm experience to hold the package in my hand, with your handwritten note. It is a fantastic way to confirm the real existence of the internet based community. Thank you again, for your generosity and commitment.

Anna: It has been a couple of years, but yeah… what about you? Where are you headed back?
Celine: Are you also based in Manila? I didn’t realise! Hope to meet you too!
Junctional Complex: I’m sooo pleased to hear that you received the print. And that you’re happy with it? Do you mind if I use your comment as a testimonial? I hope not. I’m really, really so glad. Thanks for letting me know!
Jayvee: See you indeed!
Toni: Yay! I’m so excited to meet you ‘na! Finally.
Noemi: Wow. So happy to know you can make it! I’m really looking forward to meeting you in person. Thanks for making the time!

Hi Shai. It seems the date got change from the last time I checked. I was planning an eyeball at that time when I had to change my schedule to avoid conflict. Wish you lots of fun in your event!

Sonnie: Thanks for confirming. As I said in Sasha’s blog – looking forward to meeting you.
Janette: Hope your meet-up goes well too. The meet-up guest list on Facebook is already looking quite healthy – so looks like folks are up for a party. Now to confirm the details and get it all going… I see you’re still a ‘Maybe’ on FB, so hope that ‘Maybe’ will turn in to ‘Yes’ too. It’ll be great to meet up after all these years…

Yes, I’m based in Metro Manila. I’d love to go to the meet-up, I just need to know where it is. I don’t think I can stay too long either, since I have class the following morning. I really want to go so there’s a 90% chance of me being there.

Celine: A short time to meet-up is always better than no time. Will definitely post any venue updates as soon as we finalise it. Looking forward to meeting you!
Arpee: Awww… that’s really nice of you and your wife. Thank you for making that time to join us. Looking forward to meeting you!
Robin: Shame, huh? Would’ve loved to meet up with you in Manila. But, hopefully we’ll get to see each other again. If not in Manila or Canada, I’m sure SOMEWHERE in the world.
Take care!
