Recently, b5media celebrated its 1st birthday. We’ve been so busy, we didn’t even manage to celebrate when our blogging network turned one year old. I guess, part of the reason is that we’ve been trying hush things a bit (yep, another one of those secret things).
But now, the secret’s out: b5media just received US$2,000,000 in VC funding.
Our VCs are both Canada-based — JLA Ventures and Brightspark. One of our VCs, Rick Segal (now also the Chairman of our Board of Directors), shares the news about the funding in his blog.
You can also read the official Press Release at b5media.
Darren Rowse, one of my business partners, also shares his views about the funding at Problogger and at the b5 blog. Duncan Riley, another business partner, writes about it here and here. I’m sure Jeremy’s preparing his own spiel on this.
Needless to say, we’re all pretty excited about it. We realise that with the help of this funding, we will be able to tap in to bigger and better resources that will enable us to grow b5media. Not just as a business, but as a community. We’re looking forward to what the future will bring.

Well, it certainly seems big news for us. I’m still not 100% sure what it all means, but is looking very good for you in the near future.
