“Everyone is a house with four rooms, a physical, a mental, an emotional and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room, every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person.” – Indian Proverb
If I were to check my own ‘house-airing’ practices based on this proverb, I’d fall short. I’m primarily spending my time living in my ‘mental room’. My work and general interests seem to reside in there. In full gear. My emotional room gets visited a lot too. But, I think my physical and spiritual rooms definitely need more ‘airing time’. Not enough living being done in those rooms in my house. Especially not on a daily basis.
What about you? How’re you living in (and airing) your house?
And, if you were to add more rooms in your house, what would they be and why?

My physical room needs a gym since I’m eating everytime I’m there. I’m mostly in my mental room which I think should be divided into creative, musical, pure thougth and random moments. Its a great proverb Shai. Great as an ice breaker in class too. I’m quoting you if you don’t mind on my blog entry for today.

Hi Shai,
That proverb certainly seems to sum it up. I think the room that gets neglected most for me is the physical room, though not as much as before I had the little guy. He keeps the door open. Perhaps a room where you allow yourself to interact with others. But perhaps that is really encompassed in all the rooms, anyway.

Robin: LOL. You’re really great at integrating these things. Thanks!
Heather: Yeah. I guess there will always be a ‘neglected’ room somehow. A social room? Hmmm… sounds like a good idea.

Does anybody know who wrote this proverb. I really like it but have to have a reference as putting it in an essay.
