in Blogging & Bloggers

52 Weeks of Blog CommunityIt’s Week #24 of our 52 Weeks of Blog Community project. This week’s task is an extremely simplified version of Lynn Stevens‘ suggestion from 52WoC#19. Lynn suggested a Flickr mash-up of some kind. But, I thought that we’ll keep this simple for now.

To participate in this week’s 52WoC, you need to do 2 things:

1) Share your Flickr URL (if you have one), so we can add each other as contacts. If you don’t have a Flickr URL and you don’t wish to sign up there, that’s okay. Just do #2.

2) Share at least one Flickr Photo that inspired you. You can do this by simply sharing the link to the photo. Or, blogging about that photo and sharing your blog post URL here. Or, sharing that photo in our Photography Studio Forum. (Optional: If you can tell that Flickrite that her/his photo has been inspiring, that’ll be great too.) If you can, please answer: Why (or how) did that photo inspire you?

Looking forward to seeing your inspirational Flickr photos. And, seeing *YOUR* Flickr photostreams too. :-)

Anyway, here’s the round from last week’s 52WoC#23: Forum Fun! task. So, here are our new S Studio Forum Friends -

Thank you all for being party of S Studio’s Forums Party launch. :-) I’m looking forward to more fun at the forums with you (and new friends).

And yes, a big warm welcome to Xee! So glad to have you join us at 52WoC.

Oh, and if you’re wondering about the # of entries, this is how it goes…

  • 1 entry = Those who left a comment without registering at the forums and those who registered but did not post anything (YET!)
  • 2 entries = Those who registered AND posted something at the forums.
  • 3 entries = Those who registered, posted, and shared their forum participation in the blog post.

Great community project! I LOVE Flickr. This is a fantastic homage. I’ve stumbled this post!

This is my home in Flickr> http://www.flickr.com/photos/tonigirl/
Hope to see you there!

Here’s one Flickr photo that inspired me>
http://www.flickr.com/photos/lidarose/90608872/

It is a picture of a reading cove. There are comfortable couches situated around a fireplace with a wonderful shelf of books. It exudes comfort and security.

It is one of my Flickr favorites and one of the Flickr photos that inspires me because of several things: It makes me want to read more (and I already read plenty now!). It makes me want to create a reading space of my own at home. It makes me want to curl up with a good book right now and immerse myself in the world of whatever I’m reading now. It just makes me more passionate about reading.

All those emotions from one picture. And that’s why I love this Flickr photo. :)

P.S. I’ve left a comment on the Flickrite’s site about this blog entry.

My Flickr URL is:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/meliciousgirl/

I’ve used Flickr mainly to store photos of my kids for far away family and to host craft photos for my blog. Now I’ve added craft inspiration to that as I do searches for specific tags (‘felt’ or ‘softies’ or whatever I happen to be working on.) One thing that totally knocked me for six was the Paperbag Swag Project and this link is to one of many pages I adore. I loved the mixed craft media, I love the colours, I love the textures and I love the skill level. Whenever I want to feel inspired to craft from the heart and do what feels right I look at this picture and the others in this set.

I’m only on Picasa (Google’s version of Flickr) so no URL for me. :)
But here’s my current fun photo to share from Flickr: http://flickr.com/photos/retrorenovation/1525508919/
It’s by 50sPam who is the blogger behind retrorenovation.com. I adore her kitchen and wish I could get my 60′s retro home decked out with steel cabinets like hers. Sigh.

Just for fun… here’s my Picasa “stream” of my orchids: http://picasaweb.google.com/jlshopf/JamiSOrchids

Lynn Stevens reply on August 3rd, 2008:

Wow! that is a great kitchen. I wish I had such pluck. Not sure about having metal cabinets though. I like the texture and sound of wood.

Here’s my current fave photo on Flickr. http://flickr.com/photos/retrorenovation/1525508919/
It’s by 50sPam who is the blogger behind retrorenovation.com. I absolutely adore her vintage kitchen. I really want to pluck her steel cabinets out and place them right into our 60′s kitchen. :)

I’m not a Flickr user so no URL from me. I’m a Picasa girl. So here’s one of my albums there: http://picasaweb.google.com/jlshopf/JamiSOrchids

I’m not so sure about which photo inspires me the most… Ummm, of yeah, this one:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/shaicoggins/2400061915/

You just really captured a gorgeous moment there, Shai. ;-)

Lynn Stevens reply on August 3rd, 2008:

That is a lovely photo. Innocence and wonder in an urban setting.

Shai Coggins reply on August 11th, 2008:

Aww… thanks, Heather! Really appreciate that. :-)

Hey, great task! I am on Flickr:

And here’s one of my faves from my own collection:

I love the angle I managed to capture, not to mention that I walked about 2-3 hours to get there!!

How could I not participate in this one?

I went ahead and did my Flickr mashup in Speak up and tell us.

Tho my blog is pretty narrowly focused, anyone can share their inspiration in this post!

Thanks to Nicola I found the Flickr meme thing to incorporate with the innovation excercise.

okay, I hope this isn’t too late…
I’m at http://www.flickr.com/photos/lifecandy

The photo that inspires me the most is:

I love the idea of simple living… small carbon footprint… just the important things in life… my family, my books… maybe my computer too…
