Hi, everyone. Things are really hectic on my side of the sky lately, so this latest installment of 52WoC has come later than planned. But, I thought I’d better get going with this today, especially with the weekend coming up.
Plus, I’ll be going to Las Vegas for BlogWorldExpo soon. So, my usual routine will be out of whack for a bit. That’s why this week’s 52WoC will probably be good for at least a couple of weeks, as I’m not sure how much blogging I’ll manage to do while traveling and all that.
So, we’ll keep it fun and simple: 52WoC #29 is all about memes (or group projects)!
All you need this week to participate:
1) Suggest a blog meme/project (or two!). Other than 52WoC, of course.
2) Participate in that meme/project while this task is running (in the next week or two).
3) Tell us all about it via the comments section.
URLs to memes and your personal posts regarding the memes are welcome and encouraged (but optional).
Now, on to the round-up of 52WoC #28: Your Favourite Blog Community Activity. But, before I share the names of our wonderful participants, I just want to say that I’m really excited about everyone’s suggestions/ideas/tips on fave blog community activities. Really inspiring. And, has given me a lot of food for thought. So, thanks so much for that. I’m hoping that one of these days, I can list all your contributions to that task.
So, a round of applause please to the following 52WoCers…
Really cool to see how everyone is participating in different ways online. Shows that it’s not all about “me, me, me” – right?
Again, thanks everyone!

Hmm…the only blog memes or projects I ever know about are usually the ones that someone else tags me for. Aside from like, blog carnivals, what suggestions would you offer for finding these kinds of memes and projects on your own?

The project I’ve decided to go with is already in existence and I found it from Nanette! I am now participating in a wonderful cause Brighter Planet’s 350 Challenge to help fight climate change. Please join in here: http://350.brighterplanet.com/ and thank you Nanette for helping me discover this great cause!

oh! i am not so creative/innovative in that so called blog meme/project. i only know those tags/meme being passed to me, this project you are running and the weekend soiree by ms toni.
but maybe, you can have some sort of open forum or debate on certain topic/s once a month or every quarter or so.
sorry this is only the idea that i can contribute here!

I really haven’t learned much about meme’s yet, but it is funny you should mention group projects. I met someone online who suggested a project that sounded like a lot of fun. For one month, starting Sept 1, a group of us were to blog using a pattern to our topics. 5 days in I discovered I was the only one who didn’t give up after the first two days. I am still following through because I told my small readership I was doing it, but I am no longer rushing to meet the end of the month deadline. And I still think it was a fun and challenging idea.

There was a meme around a little while ago called “Interview Me” – you tag somebody to ask you 5 questions, and so on…
And then there’s the “What’s in a name” meme which is a really fun way of getting to know other people, you basically list all the names people know you by and who those people are for example:
If you call me Love, you’re my Dad.
If you call me *real name*, you don’t know me very well.
If you call me *nickname*, you’re a close friend.
If you call me *another name*, you’re a work colleague etc…

I hold a Weekend Soiree regularly (http://wifelysteps.com/weekend-soiree/) and there’s also an online Jane Austen Book Club (http://witsandnuts.com/2008/07/30/join-us-in-the-jane-austen-book-club/). Persuasion was the book reviewed this August/September.

would theme days count?
health and wellness bloggers at b5 had a theme day this september – back to school – and your truly hosted it. the community of bloggers at this channel is to envy, I tell you. there really is a sense of cooperation, of building each blog up and helping others succeed.

I’m not sure this qualifies as a group project (see http://peoplingplaces.wordpress.com/2008/09/08/do-or-write-not/).
My blog is about documenting the revitalization of an area of my neighborhood. As part of that and in conjunction with Chicago Artists Month I’m working on a project that needs the work of local artists, so my post invites them to share their work with readers and (as part of the project) the community. It has generated more comments than any other post I’ve done.

I was sure I had participated in this but I can’t see my name? I wanted to hint about a Collage Meme or what ever you could call it. Each week a Collage Sheet gets posted to the private group. you print the images and make a journal entry with them and then post your scan to the group! it’s SO much fuN! get the details at the group’s blog a href=”http://crowaboutgroup.blogspot.com/”>Crow About Collage challange!
