52WoC #14: Getting to Know You

52 Weeks of Blog CommunityYay! It’s Week #14 of 52 Weeks of Blog Community Project. And this week, it’s Getting To Know You Time. With a twist. Inspired by Toni‘s Weekend Soirees.

Basically, the idea is, I’ll post 3 Questions here that Commenter #1 should answer either directly in the comment section or through his/her blog. If he/she posts on the blog, please share the link via Comments.

Commenter #1 will also ask 3 new Questions. Commenter #2 can then answer those questions either directly or via a blog post. He/she will also post 3 new Questions. Commenter #3 will answer #2’s questions & ask 3 more questions, etc etc. I will then answer last commenter’s 3 questions next week, after I close this task.

So, if in summary:
Me > Post 3 Questions
Commenter 1 > Answers my questions via comments or blog + Posts 3 new questions
Commenter 2 > Answers Commenter 1’s 3 questions + Posts 3 new questions
Commenter 3 > Answers Commenter 2’s 3 questions + Posts 3 new questions
….
Me> Answers Last Commenter’s 3 Questions

Hope that makes sense! If not, you’re always welcome to Contact Me. To see my questions, please see the bottom section of this blog post.

Just note that all participants in this week’s task will be eligible to join our Virtual Party #4.

Anyway, thanks to all who shared their Best Posts of the Month (52WoC #13):

Welcome to 52WoC, Chris! Hope you’ll continue to join future 52WoCs. :)

My 3 Questions for Commenter #1:
1. Who is the biggest influence you have as a blogger?
2. If you can ask someone to be a mentor (from blogging or elsewhere), who would you choose and why?
3. What’s your favourite book of all time?

    Hi Shai,
I hope I’m still first in commenting. I have had this window open for a bit. ;-)

    1. I have to say that you are my biggest influence as a blogger. I think it was you who helped me get my start in all my online activities, so, yes, it would be you.

    2. A mentor – mmm, the guy who writes Problogger. I think he’s have a thing or two to teach me, he he.

    3. Another difficult question, but I’ll say, just for now, that To Kill a Mockingbird is probably one fo the best books I’ve ever read. I’ve even read it twice, which is really saying something, as I rarely do read books more than once.

    Ok, my three questions are:
    1. What book are you reading right now?
    2. Where do you sit when you’re reading?
    3. What other creative pursuits do you enjoy?

    Hope that’s right. ;-)

  2. says

Oooh, tough questions! Looks like I’m first up though, so I’ll take on the challenge.

    1. All my fellow bloggers influence me, but probably the one who has had the biggest influence is Not So Blonde (www.notsoblonde.com). Her’s is the first blog I ever read and after months of leaving loooong comments, I finally decided I would be better off creating my own blog instead of hijacking someone elses!

    2. Someone for a mentor… I’m really not sure, I think it would be someone with a business head, anyone who was successful, but not necessarily prominent. I can’t really think of anyone in particular…. I would say that I look up to people and have had several mentors come and go on a smaller scale. One of my cousins may have been the biggest of those people, she inspired me to go to University and is now a huge support in my current goal to get slimmer and fitter.

    3. Favourite book ever? I like all books by a several authors, I’m not sure of a favourite… if put on the spot (like now!) I’d pick something by Bryce Courtney. I think Brother Fish is probably the best of his that I’ve read recenty. I also loved Jessica, I never cried so much reading a book!

    Now for my questions….

    1) What’s your all-time favourite movie and why?
    2) Who has inspired you the most in your lifetime and in what way?
    3) What’s your secret guilty pleasure that very few people know about?

  3. says

Thanks for the last challenge – I think it was fun to read everyones Best post! Very cool idea.

Great questions too, though I want to answer Shai’s question, they made me think about my bloggin history! So I’m going to break the rules (so whats new?) because I can’t decide if I should answer Nicola’s or Heather’s! hihi.

    1) I fell in love with claire’s blog Loobylu.com and the ones she was linking too when I started reading blogs.

    2) I long for a mentor. I’d choose Aisling for obvious reasons.

    3) I don’t have a favorite book because I read all the time. I have a huge list, I’ll share it sometime!

I’ll leave it to the next commenter to choose any of the 3 question lists above to answer. :-)

    have a great week!

  4. says

    Okay, I’ll answer Heather’s questions…

    1. What book are you reading right now?
I usually have about 3 books on the go, but I’d have to say that the one in my bag is Kimberly Zant’s “Surrender”… another smutty book :)

    2. Where do you sit when you’re reading?
I usually read in the car when I’m picking up the hubby from work, or in bed, just before sleep.

    3. What other creative pursuits do you enjoy?
I enjoy knitting and crochet, and now that it’s spring, I love designing (and redesigning!) my front yard garden. Nothing like the feeling of good clean soil between the fingers!

Now the next person can answer Nicola’s questions!

  5. says

    Hi Guys,

I’m new around here! I’ve enjoyed reading the past challenges.

    1) What’s your all-time favourite movie and why? Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, it just reminds me that even painful experiences have led to who I have become as a person and there is a reason for going through them.
    2) Who has inspired you the most in your lifetime and in what way? I would say my maternal grandmother … she made everyone feel so special and loved unconditionally. I always knew I had her support and I hope to be able to give that feeling to my future kids.

    3) What’s your secret guilty pleasure that very few people know about? I am obsessed with lucking and often pluck out my leg hair mindlessly. My hubby hates it. I get so excited when I get a root. I have a problem … lol.

My questions for the next person:
    1. How has your blog changed your life?
    2. What are you goals for 5 years from now?
    3. What 3 things would you take to a deserted island?

    Christie

  6. says

    in reply to Christie’s questions:
    1. How has your blog changed your life?
    — since i started blogging, i’ve made new friends, discovered lots of interesting stuff about people i wouldn’t normally have gotten to know in real life. blogging has become a form of therapy for me as it helped me express my thoughts in my own terms. i’ve been blogging since 2005 and i can’t imagine life without it :)

    2. What are you goals for 5 years from now?
    — find the perfect man
    — marry the perfect man
    — buy the perfect car
    — buy the perfect house where i can park the perfect car and where my perfect husband and i will raise our perfect kid :D

    3. What 3 things would you take to a deserted island?
    — my perfect man! hahahha!

    now for my questions:
    1. what song has meant the most to you?
    2. which blogger do you have a secret crush on?
    3. what has love taught you lately?

  7. says

    1. what song has meant the most to you?
The Prayer. It’s our wedding song. I walked down the aisle to that song! Violins, instrumental. Lovely. And the lyrics:

    Let this be our prayer
    As we go our way
    Lead us to a place
    Guide us with your grace
    To a place where we’ll be safe…

    2. which blogger do you have a secret crush on?
If I’d say it, it wouldn’t be a secret crush anymore! :P

    3. what has love taught you lately?
Love is never having to ask if your husband wants tea. Just give him a steaming mug already! Anticipate needs. :)

    My questions:
    1. If you were to face your 4-year-old self, what advice would you give him/her?
    2. Who was the last person you hugged?
    3. How do you calm yourself down?

  8. says

    1. If you were to face your 4-year-old self, what advice would you give him/her?
Dream big and believe you can achieve it. Always smile and love everybody.

    2. Who was the last person you hugged?
My hubby and my baby before I left for work.

    3. How do you calm yourself down?
I stay silent, take a deep breath and replay peaceful images in my head. I usually visualize that wonderful sunrise I witnessed at the Mount Pinatubo crater years ago. It was so breathtaking.

    My questions:
    1. What is your life’s passion?
    2. What / who inspires you?
    3. If you will be given the absolute power to change one thing about the world, what would it be?

  9. says

    Ok, It’s Jami, answering Jayme’s questions… how fitting! :)

    1. What is your life’s passion?
I have quite a few things that keep me passionate about life. My husband mainly- without him, I would be lost. He’s encouraging, sympathetic, understanding, and yet knows exactly how to motivate me and help me be a better person. Plus he’ll listen patiently while I babble incessantly about blogging.
Other lesser passions: Growing orchids, taking care of my pets, blogging, sailing and outdoor activities (camping, gardening, kayaking).

    2. What / who inspires you?
My grandfather and grandmother. My granddad lived life to his fullest and is truly my hero. I think of him everyday. My grandmom- she’s the most amazing woman ever and has this incredible sixth sense about me. She’s over a thousand miles away yet calls me and *knows* when I’m sick, hurt, or under the weather.

    3. If you will be given the absolute power to change one thing about the world, what would it be?
I’d require special licenses to drive the gas-guzzling SUV’s in America. If you don’t have a large family or a farm, you don’t qualify. And you’d have to learn to park them correctly, without lopping over into the other parking spaces and no driving like a bat-outta-hell just because you are bigger.

    And now, for my questions…

    1. Outside of the internet, do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?
    2. If you could go back in time to visit a certain period/decade/event, when and why would you go?
    3. If you could have a super hero’s power, what would it be and how would you use it?

  10. says

Thanks, everyone. About to close this now and do the weekly round-up. Enjoyed getting to know you all better through this week’s task. Will respond to the last question in the 52WoC #15 post.
